RE Conference

Year 5 pupil council representatives were invited to and RE and British Values Conference hosted by Birches Head Academy on 3rd March 2016. Children from all over the city represented their schools and talked about important issues to do with British Values and RE. Mature conversations about respecting beliefs, cultures and what makes us proud to be in Britain took place throughout the day, alongside a range of fantastic activities. One activity involved a form of speed dating with topics such as  - 'If you speak to a person with religious links or a strong belief in something, who would it be and where would you take them for lunch?'. The afternoon was spent being crafty and using given themes such as Respect and Freedom, children were given less than an hour to create sculptures. It was a fantastic day with lots of ideas for promoting British Values and RE.
